PAP Doesn’t Want More University Graduates – Bullshit
Oh. My. God. What a blatant and malicious misrepresentation of facts!
Polytechnics ARE meant to prepare a person for employment, not further University studies.
That's why you get a DIPLOMA, not a DEGREE.
I'm not saying that path from poly to uni is properly managed – more needs to be done to allow more poly graduates the chance to study in Universtys, but don't get insulted from a description of an organisation's primary purpose!
If you want to go Uni, go via the primary route, which is through Pre-University.
There's a reason why it's called a 'Junior College' or 'Pre-University'.
Let's say it again:
Polytechnic – Its primary job is to prepare a person for the workforce, not University
JC/Pre-U – Its primary job is to prepare a person for University, not a job.
Wait a minute. How come no one's descriminating the Pre-U saying that the government doesn't more people to get a job but to get a degree instead?
And anyway, if your primary goal is to enroll into a Uni, wtf are you doing in a polytechnic anyway?
Again, I'm not saying there's no problem with our educational system. There IS a problem with the educational system, but this bullshit twisting of facts is not the way to highlight the problem.
I was expecting some real meaty proof, like a communique between the head of MOE and the PM actively planning to limit University places, etc…
Turns out it's just a moron who misinterpreted facts and twisted it, sensationalising it, taking advantage of the growing angst against the government just to make 'some' news.
That's worst than SPH standards eh?
Re: PAP Minister Lawrence Wong: Polytechnic graduates are prepared primarily for work, not universities
PS. Then this idiot's title, it's like DUH.
Let's use his headline in another way:
Lorries are prepared primarily for carrying heavy loads, not cars.
Discrimination against cars much?
Talk about reporting from ignorance.
I've made a few replies and comments to that page, but check out his reply to one of mine:
I think the last comment summed it up best.
